What is an E-Tune?
An E-tune is a method of calibrating the vehicle’s ECU remotely without the tuner being present. This process can be done on the road or on a dyno. To start, you will be sent a base map for your current modifications. You will then data log live values within the idle, cruise, part throttle and wide open throttle. Every tune is tailored specifically for your car and its modifications.
What do I need to complete an E-Tune?
It’s a simple process of downloading the following softwares: Evoscan, Ecuflash and Google Remote Desktop.
Next, you’ll need the following:
An Air/fuel gauge that supports data logging. We recommend the AEM X series.
It also important to do a compression, leak down test, boost leak test, and replace your spark plugs as this will play a huge factor in reliability and power. Data logging should ideally be done on a smooth road for the most accuracy.
2008-2010 Evo X will use Tephra V1 ROM (free)
2011-2015 FE Evo X will use Tephra V3 ROM ($110). This is not included with any tuning packages and will need to be purchased separately.
Note: All flex fuel tuning requires Tephra V3 regardless of the year and trim evo X.
Need help setting up the programs needed for flashing and data logging?
You can purchase our technical support by clicking here.
We will remote in to your laptop and setup everything and answer any questions you may have about using the programs. After purchasing this service you will need to download google remote desktop. To download click here.
How long is the tuning process?
After purchase, you will receive your first revision map within the first 8-16 hours. The actual tuning process can vary anywhere from 3-8 hours depending on the tuning package you choose, modifications on your car and of course if we run into any mechanical issues.
What are Tephra V1 and V3?
Tephra Mod
Tephra V1 is free for 2008-2010 Evo X’s and is included with our tunes. Tephra V1 is limited to 1 alternate map and has the ability to show the Check Engine Light flashing when detecting engine knocks. Good choice for single and dual maps.
Tephra V3 has the ability to run 9 alternate maps, TPS knock failsafe, high/low Mivec crossover, No Lift To Shift, launch control maps, meth safe map, flex fuel, and many more.
We recommend using Tephra V3 so you can get all the features and failsafes available on the stock ECU.
Tephra V3 is required for Flex Fuel tuning on any Evo X regardless of the year.

I already purchased Tephra V3. Can I use that?
If you have the original copy from Tephra, then you can email it to MrBishiTuned@gmail.com after you have purchased your tune.
What is the difference between Dual Maps and Flex Fuel?
Dual Maps - Your car will be tuned on either two different fuels or your choice of two different boost levels using the main map and 1 alternate map. With dual maps, you will not be able to mix fuels at the same time. You will have to either drain the tank or wait until the gas light is illuminated in order to switch fuels.
Flex Fuel - Your car must have a Flex fuel kit installed and you will be tuned on pump gas and then ethanol. After you are tuned you will be able to mix pump gas and ethanol at the same time if needed and the ECU will automatically adjust the tune using the flex fuel sensor. This is the way to go if you have inconsistent ethanol content throughout the year.
I just purchased a tuning package. What’s next?
You will get an order confirmation. Please take the time to read the terms and conditions page. Please make sure the car has no leaks such as vacuum/boost/exhaust/fuel along with a fresh set of plugs.
You can expect your first revision map within 8-16 hours. During the tuning process, you will be asked to data log live values such as idle, cruising, part throttle, and wide open throttle runs. You will email them to be analyzed and you will receive another revision. We will repeat the process until the car is properly dialed in within specs. This is all done under our guidance through phone, email and remote desktop connection (if needed).
What do I need to do in order to make 500+whp?
Here’s what we recommend:
Garrett stock replacement GTX series turbochargers such as 3576r or the 3582r generation 2.
(To run a T3 turbo setup we recommend building the cylinder head along with the block to ensure maximum power delivery and longevity)Camshafts is a big plus when it comes to power! We recommend GSC S2 camshafts along with GSC head package with ARP head studs.
A quality set of injectors such as Injector Dynamics or Fuel Injector Clinic (Injector sizing may vary depending on the fuel content you have available in your area)
Walbro 450 lph fuel pump for up to 600whp.
ETS or MAP 3.5 MAF Adapter
E85 or whatever ethanol content you have available
And lastly, a MrBishiTuned calibration
If you are not sure of what turbo and injectors you need, please send us a message by clicking here
Do I need to hardwire my fuel pump?
No, you do not unless you are told otherwise.
Do I need to get an Omni 4 bar map sensor?
In most cases you do not but It varies on your turbo setup, ideal boost level and if your motor is built. The stock 3 bar map sensor is good until 32 psi. After that you will need to upgrade to the 4 bar. If you unsure, you can message us by clicking here
I was already tuned by someone else but I am having issues with my car. What can I do?
You can purchase a Tune Evaluation. We will analyze your tune for any incorrect parameters that may be causing the issues you are having. This service does not fix any of your issues but merely addresses them. If you are looking for a tune, please visit our tuning section.
